Resin Care

Resin art can be a beautiful and unique form of artwork, but it does require some care to ensure its longevity and preservation. Here are some tips for caring for resin art:

  1. Handling: When handling resin art, make sure to handle it with clean, dry hands. Avoid touching the surface directly, as fingerprints and oils can leave marks and damage the finish.

  2. Cleaning: To clean resin art, use a soft, lint-free cloth or a microfiber cloth. Gently wipe the surface in a circular motion to remove any dust or smudges. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as they can damage the resin.

  3. Avoid direct sunlight: Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause resin art to yellow or become discolored over time. To preserve its colors, it's best to display resin art in an area where it won't be exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods. If necessary, use UV-protective coatings or display it behind UV-resistant glass.

  4. Temperature and humidity: Resin art is sensitive to extreme temperatures and high humidity. Avoid placing it in areas with fluctuating temperatures, such as near heating vents or windows. High humidity can also cause the resin to become tacky or develop a cloudy appearance. Maintain a stable environment with moderate temperature and humidity levels.

  5. Avoid sharp objects: Resin is a relatively durable material, but it can still be scratched or damaged by sharp objects. Avoid placing sharp objects on the surface of resin art or using abrasive materials for cleaning.

  6. Use coasters or protective pads: If you're using resin art as functional items like coasters or trays, consider using protective pads or coasters under hot or heavy objects to prevent damage to the resin surface.

  7. Storage: When storing resin art, make sure it is kept in a clean and dust-free environment. Wrap it in a soft cloth or bubble wrap to protect it from scratches or impacts.

  8. Maintenance: Over time, resin art may develop small scratches or lose its shine. You can restore the shine by applying a thin layer of resin-specific polish or wax, following the manufacturer's instructions.

Remember, each resin artist may have specific recommendations for caring for their artwork, so it's always a good idea to consult our artist or any care instructions that may come with the piece.

Bubbles & Color Change:
Please be aware we cannot control bubbles or imperfections that appear in the resin after the preservation is completed. We do our absolute best to mitigate any defects that may occur but, we gently remind you that each piece is a handcrafted work of art. Variations in resin and look may differ from one piece to the next. Flowers will change color in the preservation process. This is a very natural occurrence as the flower’s quality and texture will change in the drying process. Flowers become more brittle and the hue tends to fade. For example, orange flowers may turn yellow or white flowers can become off white or yellowed.  White calla lilies and lisianthus flowers will turn yellow. Some flowers like hydrangea, orchids and roses will show translucent spots once placed in resin.
